Ahmedabad: The IT department head at Gujarat Technological University (GTU), Keyur Shah, who was suspected to be involved in the Course on Computer Concepts (CCC) exam scam, submitted a response to a show-cause notice issued by the university on Tuesday. However, concerns were raised about the university's internal processes, as appropriate action was not taken against the culprits.
Professor Mahesh Panchal, the exam coordinator, discovered that the marks were altered in the IT Department after he prepared the results for the CCC exam for govt employees.
He filed a complaint with the university and provided supporting evidence.
Initially, the university did not take action, but later formed a probe committee which recorded statements and found evidence of altered marks for 39 students. It submitted its report to the university around four months ago.
The report was presented at a meeting of the board of management on Aug 16, and a show-cause notice was issued to Keyur Shah, the IT department director.
Sources indicated that Shah provided an explanation, and a board meeting would be held to determine further action. Despite the GTU's usual practice of filing police complaints in such cases, no complaint has been filed yet.
GTU officials and professors faced serious allegations, with unresolved complaints about fake marksheets and degrees. In a separate incident, a female professor accused her PhD guide and senior professor of sexual harassment, providing evidence, but no concrete action was taken.
