Babu hockey: UP XI, Mum Customs in SFs
Lucknow: The UP XI and Mumbai Customs entered semi-finals of the 42nd All-India KD Singh Babu Men's Invitational Prize Money Hockey Tournament with impressive performances.
The UP XI and the Mumbai Customs qualified for the knockouts after the completion of Pool A and Pool D matches respectively.
In the first match of the day held at Mohammad Shahid Synthetic Hockey Stadium, here, Indian Oil beat CISF 3-0.

After a goalless first two quarters, Indian Oil's Gurjinder Singh converted a penalty corner in the 37th minute. Three minutes later, Sumit Kumar broke through the rival defence to make it 2-0 for Indian Oil. In the fourth quarter, Armaan Qureshi converted a penalty corner in the 57th minute to give Indian Oil a 3-0 lead which lasted till the end.
In the second match of the day, CAG Delhi defeated Navy 4-2. Manish Yadav opened the scoring in the eighth minute from a penalty corner. In the next minute, Prashanth scored the equaliser for Navy.
At the same time, Navy took a 2-1 lead in the 27th minute with a brilliant field goal by Kuldeep. However, after falling behind, the CAG changed the strategy, which benefited the team. Naveen Kujur scored from a penalty corner in the 40th minute, Rohit in the 50th minute and Deepak Malik in the 59th minute.
