Ajmer: Ajmer discom imposed a fine of Rs 2.75 crore in 1,258 cases of power theft during vigilance check at 8,602 locations under a campaign which started from Oct 1. Additionally, 597 cases of misuse of electricity were found and a penalty of Rs 99.85 lakh was imposed. Seventeen districts come under the jurisdiction of Ajmer discom.
Ajmer discom managing director KP Verma said the discom has intensified campaign to check power theft and prevent losses to treasury.
"Discom aimed to keep electricity loss below 10% this year. Instructions were given to the vigilance wing of Ajmer discom to accelerate this campaign," he said.
Ajmer discom PRO Satish Soni said maximum theft cases reported from Chittorgarh district (188) and a fine of Rs 39.53 lakh was imposed. Theft cases were recorded in Ajmer Circle (20), Beawar (16), Kekri (13), Bhilwara (116), Shahpura (42), Nagaur (60), Didwana Kuchaman (99), Jhunjhunu (186), Sikar (147), Neem Ka Thana (113), Banswara (76), Dungarpur (59), Pratapgarh (56), Udaipur (49) and Salumber Circle (six), he said.
