Varanasi: Post master general of Varanasi region, Col Vinod Kumar, inaugurated ‘National Postal Week' at the regional office in Varanasi. A customers' meet was organised on ‘Mail and Parcel Day' at the regional office on Tuesday. The postal week is being celebrated all over India from Oct 7 to 11.
Addressing the programme, Kumar said
India Post was the largest postal network in the world and was delivering its services equally and continuously in cities as well as in remote areas of villages.
"It is not limited to letters and money orders but includes services like savings bank, insurance, Aadhaar, passport and pensioners' life certificates too and these services were being delivered at the doorstep with customer satisfaction through India Post Payments Bank," said Kumar. Heads of several prestigious institutions in Varanasi and customers participated in the Customers' Meet, where services of the postal department were discussed in detail.
Discussing facilities of the post office export centre, Kumar said Postal Department was using new technologies to make it easy and transparent to send mails, parcels, etc abroad from these centres.
A visit for school children was conducted to show them mail booking and distribution system and a quiz was also organised, in which children from Kendriya Vidyalaya and Balaji Public School, Varanasi, participated. Prizes were distributed to winning students of the quiz.
The programme was attended by assistant director-I Bhola Sah, assistant director-II M M Hussain, assistant superintendent of post offices Pallavi Mishra, along with Vivek, Anand Pradhan and others.
