AC suggestions - 5 star AC with best service

Looking to buy our first AC. Till now we never needed ac, but recently we moved to a new place. Since our flat is on top floor (6th floor), it has become horrible during few hot sunny days. Even during a few days in non-summer seasons, the heat during afternoon is high. So I'm thinking it's better to go for 5 star ac instead of 3 star, as I feel we might be using atleast for 6 months in a year. Also, 1.5 ton is what I feel is sufficient, do let me know.

  • Room size is approx 170sq feet.
  • Budget Rs.40k-50k
  • Smart/app features - not compulsory but good to have.
  • Top preference - service is my top priority apart from cooling performance. As I don't have enough knowledge using these, I don't want service men trying to fleece or cheat us.
  • Not expecting lowest cooling temps, if ac can maintain 21-24 temps without struggle, it's fine ig.

Any other suggestions for AC usage/installation are welcome.

LG for best service and Daikin for best cooling in that budget.

5 star and 3 star both would essentially work the same, the efficiency comes into play, when temps are lowered and ACs can lower their output, at peak draw. both will consume the same energy, also have you considered how your room is oriented wrt to the sun? basically is the sunlight directly streaming into your room? does the room have glass windows? if yes to both, then you would be better served investing in some curtains, otherwise no AC will be able to cool the room

1.5 ton seems to fit your usecase, and you can wait for sales and see if Mitsubishi prices come down, they have the best cooling imo

Have heard good things about Daikin ACs but not sure about service.

We have glass windows and blackout curtains already. Whenever they are used properly, heat reduces to a small extent.
I've seen YouTube videos where ppl were suggesting like 3 star if we use for only summer and 5 star for ppl who use 6+ months.

I think Mitsubishi will be a lot pricier considering my budget.

Having both LG & Daikin at home I would suggest LG as the outdoor unit is much quieter
Make sure the cooling capacity is atleast 5000W
LG 1.5 Ton 3Star has cooling capacity 4400W which is essentially 1.2Ton
5 Star model has 5000W

Daikin service in my experience has been more than fine

yea that's why I suggests sales, maybe try to find a model in your budget or something +-10k? and the see if they become cheaper in sale? I think you might be able to score something deals in RD/croma/vijay?

Go for LG 1.5 Ton 5 star AC, Amazon usually has good pricing on these. I have 5 Daikin and 2 LG across two homes and both are good 5 star efficient AC brands, I prefer LG due to better pricing and other smaller things like small mesh/filter on top where air enters and also the indoor unit looks more classy.

You are suggesting "Mitsubishi Heavy"? I've seen a local store using that AC, they said 1.5 ton costed them 75k+ additional charges.

What would you say about service of LG vs Daikin?
