Chandigarh: In a notable reaffirmation of commitment towards the welfare of individuals with special needs, governor of Punjab and UT administrator Gulab Chand Kataria on Monday re-visited the Government Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities (GRIID), Sector-31, within 48 hours of his last visit.
During his Monday’s visit, the governor were briefed on various facilities offered by GRIID, including GRIID School, the child development clinic and GRIID College by joint director Dr.
Ajeet Sidana.
The tour encompassed several vital sections of the institution, such as sanitary pad-making unit, masala-grinding unit, cutting and tailoring unit, autism section, care group, preparatory section, carpentry section, artificial jewellery-making unit, bakery unit, and music section.
In a heart-warming moment, they enjoyed a special orchestral performance by the children and personally interacted with the students, praising their skills and dedication.
The governor commended the tireless efforts of GRIID educators and staff, recognizing their dedication to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for students with intellectual disabilities.
They highlighted institute’s exemplary work in providing specialized and systematic support to students and emphasized its role in promoting inclusivity and excellence within the community.
Kataria acknowledged GRIID as a “shining example of compassion and dedication with a remarkable mission and objective.”
