CPM workers protest ‘torture’ of two men by RPF personnel
Rourkela: CPM workers staged a protest on Monday against the alleged third degree torture of two brothers by RPF personnel of Bimlagarh. Led by Bonai MLA Laxman Munda, they gheraoed Bimlagarh railway station. They demanded suspension of RPF personnel and adequate compensation to the brothers. The protestors were assured that stringent action will be taken against the guilty personnel leading to withdrawal of protest.
On Saturday, Tumbi Ichagutu (29) and Chhotelal Ichagutu (27), from Chirakudar village in Sundargarh district filed a complaint at Bonai sub-division’s K Balang police station, alleging severe torture by RPF personnel at Bimlagarh railway station on the night of Oct 2.

Based on the FIR, K Balang police registered case on Oct 5 and started investigating the case. RPF assistant security commissioner, Rourkela, A K Singh discussed the issue with MLA Laxman Munda. Singh and Bonai SDPO S Debta asked the protesters to allow them some time to go through the compliant and investigate the issue, sources said.

Police van collides with truck, 12 personnel hurt
Twelve Nashik Rural police personnel were injured after their vehicle collided with a truck on the Mumbai-Agra highway. The incident occurred at Rahud Ghat and the truck driver fled the scene. All injured officers are in stable condition, while the van driver required advanced medical care. Authorities have registered a case against the unidentified truck driver.
