On April 21, Rinkal visited her parental home 15 days ahead of her brother Deepak's wedding. During this visit, she said her in-laws harassed her over household work, her mother-in-law instigated her husband against her, her brother-in-law verbally abused her while intoxicated and her sister-in-law and her husband Haresh taunted her for not bringing dowry and verbally abused her.
