Gurgaon: The day started on a cooler note as the minimum temperature dipped by 2.3 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours.
However, clear skies and ample sunshine pushed the daytime temperature.
On Monday, the minimum temperature fell to 21.7 degrees Celsius, from 24 degrees on Sunday. It was a notch above the season's normal. The maximum temperature was 34.8 degrees Celsius, marginally down from Sunday's 34.9 degrees and two notches above the normal.
According to
IMD, a western disturbance is expected to affect the western Himalayan region starting Tuesday, which may bring isolated rain to parts of Punjab and Haryana.
"Cloudy and humid conditions may bring the daytime temperature down by 1-2 degrees. But it will be temporary, as a similar trend of warmer days and cooler nights will continue over the next week," said Surender Paul, director, IMD Chandigarh.
For Tuesday, it will be a partly cloudy sky with minimum and maximum temperatures likely to hover around 23 and 34 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Meanwhile, the city's
air quality index remained in the moderate category on Monday, with a reading of 120 compared to 108 on the previous day. According to the IMD, the air quality is likely to remain in the moderate category for the next three days.
