Nagpur: On Monday morning,
BJP workers thronged Deputy CM
Devendra Fadnavis' office in the city with a hope of either securing a ticket for upcoming assembly elections or showing support for their respective leaders.
Speaking to media persons outside his office, Fadnavis said, "Every time during polls, ticket aspirants come to meet in huge numbers, and we listen to their views."
The crowds thronging big leaders' offices and homes are not only for securing the seats for themselves but also to insist that seats not be "handed over" to allies during the seat distribution talks.
While the BJP has staked claim to all seats in Nagpur city, its allies are looking to pocket two assembly constituencies.
NCP (Ajit) leaders feel that if they don't contest now, the wait gets prolonged by another five years, and their party will struggle to grow.
In Nagpur city, the six assembly seats are either with BJP or Congress. With both national parties keen to hold on to their fiefdom, the struggle within the alliance is bound to grow. In rural Nagpur too the BJP wants to keep the maximum seats to themselves, including Ramtek, which is currently with an independent MLA, Ashish Jaiswal, whose loyalties lie with Shiv Sena (Shinde).
With the code of conduct likely to come into effect next week, such a beeline by party workers to the offices of top leaders is bound to increase.
