NEW DELHI: A day before the Haryana assembly poll results,
Congress leader
Bhupinder Singh Hooda stated that he is "neither tired nor retired." He emphasized that the final decision of the party high command regarding the chief ministerial candidate will be acceptable to everyone.
At a press conference, the former chief minister highlighted the governance during his term from 2005 to 2014.
Hooda claimed that the law and order situation had deteriorated under the current BJP rule, similar to the situation before he became chief minister.
Hooda noted, "The vote share of Congress increased in all the 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana. In all the 90 Vidhan Sabha seats also, the vote share of Congress had increased. The people have indicated this very clearly."
Regarding the choice for the chief minister if Congress wins, Hooda explained, "The opinion of MLAs will be sought, and then the high command (of the party) will make the final decision. The decision taken will be acceptable to all...The Congress has performed well in all the seats."
When asked about the potential first decision of a Congress-led cabinet, Hooda stated, "When the Congress forms its government, ask the CM this question."
Additionally, Hooda emphasized his ongoing political ambition by saying, "I again say it, neither am I tired nor retired," despite being 77 years old.
Other potential candidates for the chief ministerial position include Hooda’s son Deepender Singh Hooda, Kumari Selja, and Randeep Surjewala.
The campaigning for the Haryana state polls concluded on October 3, and voting took place on October 5. The results will be declared on October 8.
