Noida: The bodies of two youths from Bulandshahr were found by a road in Dadri, Greater Noida on Sunday morning. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the youngsters, who were a couple, had entered into a suicide pact after facing opposition from their families regarding their desire to get married, police said.
According to police, the deceased were identified as Hritik Bhiduri (22) and Tamanna Bhatti (18).
Bhiduri was working in a private company in Greater Noida and living in Kasna in rented accommodation. Bhatti had completed her 12th grade and appeared for the UP police constable exam.
ADCP (Greater Noida) Ashok Kumar said that around 8am on Sunday a passerby called emergency helpline no 112 and informed cops that the bodies of two youths were found on a road near Maicha village. A police team, along with a forensic and dog squad, reached the spot for investigation.
"In the preliminary investigation, it was suspected to be a suicide case as vomiting marks were spotted around the bodies. It was also revealed that the man sent a message to his brother that he was going to attempt suicide," said additional commissioner of police, GB Nagar, Shivhari Meena.
The couple's families have been informed and police are investigating the case from all angles, Meena added.
Investigation also revealed that an astrological mismatch between their kundalis appeared to be the primary obstacle preventing their families from giving their blessing to the marriage. Following this they both consumed poisonous substances, police said, adding that autopsy results are awaited.
Bhiduri's bike was also found parked near the bodies. The couple had left their homes around 10pm on Saturday without letting their family members know where they were going, cops said.
ADCP Kumar went on to explain that the two had been in a relationship for the past year, after meeting on social media. They were from the same community, but their kundalis not matching led to their families not accepting their marriage. They had tried hard to persuade their family members to accept their relationship, but they failed to do so, the officer said.
No complaint has been received in the case so far, police added.
