GHAZIABAD: GMC has received its first tranche of funds worth Rs 70 crore from GDA after the handover of Indirapuram township to the civic body on Oct 3.
"The officials have been directed to finalise the estimation process for all projects in Indirapuram. Officers from each department are preparing a list of projects under their jurisdiction and are focusing on expediting the tender process.
Until the tendering for Indirapuram projects is concluded, GDA and GMC will continue working in mutual coordination in public interest. This collaborative effort aims to ensure the residents of the area do not come across any difficulties," said Vikramaditya Singh Malik, GMC commissioner.
The department officers have been instructed to complete all the necessary procedures as quickly as possible and to implement all the projects on the ground within 15 to 20 days.
On Sept 6, an agreement was signed between GDA and the corporation regarding the transfer of Indirapuram. The GDA committed to providing the civic body with 185 crore to improve infrastructure facilities as part of the handover conditions. Out of the amount, Rs 50 crore will be used to repair and revamp road infrastructure, Rs 25 crore on sewage management, Rs 20 crore on water infrastructure, Rs 15 crore for solid waste management, Rs 13.7 crore for installation and repair of streetlights and Rs 11 crore for maintenance of parks and green belts.
According to the terms, GDA agreed to pay the amount in four instalments - an initial first instalment of Rs 70 crore, which was paid on Oct 3, a second instalment of Rs 40 crore by Dec 31, a third instalment of Rs 40 crore by March 31, 2025, and the remaining Rs 35 crore by July 1, 2025.
