12-year-old raped by property dealer threatening to eliminate mom

Nagpur: A 12-year-old girl was repeatedly sexually exploited by a 50-year-old property dealer who had forced himself upon the survivor threatening to bump off her mother.
The accused, Arif Khan, was arrested by Ajni police on Sunday after invoking several serious charges against him under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act for penetrative and other forms of sexual overtures.
The minor was abused on multiple occasions between January and August last year but she could neither resist it nor raise her voice fearing harm to her mother.
The offence was registered on Saturday after the survivor was found crying by her mother whom she had confided in about the mental and physical torture following sustained counselling.
Police said Khan was approached by the survivor's mother seeking help to sell off their property in Nandanvan. Khan had started visiting the survivor's house on the pretext of getting their property sold.
Police said the survivor was alone when Khan had visited her place in January last year. Her mother had gone out for some work and was not supposed to return immediately.
Khan forced himself upon her when she was alone threatening to harm her mother if she spilled the beans. He had went on to abuse her on several occasions till August last year. The matter surfaced now after she broke her silence.
