Durga Puja organisers has urged the Palamu district administration to keep teams of divers and swimmers on standby during idol immersions.
Shri Kendriya Durga Puja Maha Samiti president Durga Johri said, “A teenager was swept away in Koyel river last week. Immersion is scheduled on October 12. Extreme caution along with presence of divers and swimmers is required to thwart cases of drowning."
A total of 581 pandals were erected in the district last year, police said.
Of them, 66 were identified as sensitive. There were 575 and 146 pandals in Garhwa and Latehar last year. TNN
