Junagadh farmer promised govt job, conned out of 9.32L
Rajkot: A 24-year-old farmer was allegedly defrauded of Rs 9.32 lakh by his friend who promised to get him a govt job.
Bhavin Jetani of Chodvadi village in Junagadh alleged that Devendra Hadiyal from Kothariya village in Surendranagar district deceived him by promising to get him a job with Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation. He alleged that Hadiyal also forged a call letter from Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.

Jetani filed a complaint of fraud against Hadiyal with Bhesan police under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The 24-year-old told police that he met Hadiyal while studying electrical engineering at a govt college in Bhuj in 2016.
According to the complaint, Hadiyal messaged Jetani on a social media site that he could help the latter secure a govt job for a fee. Jetani paid Rs 1.3 lakh over nine days.
On Nov 8, 2023, Jetani was told that his document verification was complete and he needed to pay additional Rs 3 lakh. Jetani transferred the money online.
According to the complaint, Jetani then received a courier returning his documents and when he questioned Hadiyal, he was told that the arrangement has changed and he would have to pay Rs 2 lakh for a new post.
Jetani, allegedly, transferred the amount online. "Hadiyal then asked him to come to Gandhinagar where he was given a call letter issued by the AMC. He then asked Jetani to pay Rs 3 lakh for the permanent job order. Jetani took a loan and transferred Rs 2.82 lakh to Hadiyal online. Then, Hadiyal stopped answering Jetani's calls, leading him to suspect that he had been defrauded," stated the complaint.
