NEW DELHI: Attacking
BJP's model of "double-engine" govts in states, AAP national convener Arvind
Kejriwal on Sunday claimed that it only brought "inflation, corruption and unemployment", and promised full statehood for Delhi if he won the upcoming assembly polls in the capital.
Speaking at Chhatrasal Stadium at a ‘Janata ki Adalat' event, Kejriwal alleged that BJP would privatise water distribution, hospitals and schools in Delhi if elected.
He claimed that BJP stressed on the double-engine govt to give all contracts in the state to "PM Modi's friend".
"Their one engine failed when BJP got only 240 seats in Lok Sabha elections in June, and the other engine was also failing in states where assembly elections were taking place," Kejriwal claimed.
He said he was often accused of giving "muft ki revadi" (freebies) to people of Delhi, but added that the ingredients for the sweets came from people only (in the form of taxes).
As AAP volunteers distributed a packet of six revadi (the sweet), symbolic for each freebie offered by Delhi govt — electricity, water, travel for women in public buses, pilgrimage to senior citizens, education and health — Kejriwal added that a seventh one, an honorarium of Rs 1,000 for all women aged above 18, would be added to it soon.
Kejriwal said he would campaign for Modi in Delhi assembly polls if the saffron party started providing free electricity in 22 states where it had its govt.
He also dared BJP to get Delhi assembly polls conducted along with those in Jharkhand and Maharashtra, in Nov, asserting AAP was ready for it.
Kejriwal asserted that he was honest and never involved in graft, and no ill-gotten money was used in assembly polls in Punjab or Goa, as being charged by BJP.
Alleging that he was illegally jailed to stop development and welfare work in Delhi, Kejriwal said PM Narendra Modi should either apologise to people or promise them that he wouldn't repeat it before he "retires" in Sept next year after turning 75.
Kejriwal said the BJP-led Centre failed to properly do one job of maintaining law and order, assigned to it in the capital. He said there was "LG Raaj" in the capital and he would soon bring ‘janata ka shaasan' (rule of people).
He called BJP "anti-poor" and alleged that bus marshals, home guards, and contractual workers were removed when he was in jail and the monthly pension of widows, senior citizens and DTC employees was stopped.
He alleged that his insulin dose was stopped for 15 days in Tihar jail where he was lodged in the excise policy case. "My kidneys could have failed, I could have died. Was this your intention?" Kejriwal said
