Ranchi: CCPIML urged anti-BJP parties on Friday to collaborate in order to defeat the saffron party-led alliance in the upcoming state assembly elections. The party also appealed to INDIA bloc partners to initiate seat-sharing discussions promptly.
CPIML announced a five-member team to engage in talks with the INDIA bloc and other political parties regarding seat sharing.
The team comprises MLA Binod Singh, former MLA Arup Chatterjee, state secretary Manoj Bhakt and politburo members Janardhan Prasad and Haldhar Mahto.
The party's state secretary said, "My party is hoping that the talks would begin after the Haryana elections where top Congress leaders are busy in campaigning now. The JMM should take the lead in the talks in Jharkhand."
Prasad emphasized the necessity of mobilizing anti-BJP forces to defeat the saffrom party, particularly in non-tribal constituencies. He stressed that the leading parties of the INDIA bloc, namely JMM and Congress, must allocate an appropriate share to other members. Prasad cautioned that if seat-sharing talks fail, the anti-BJP votes would be divided.
He asserted that following the merger of Marxist Coordination Committee with CPIML, his party's presence has grown significantly in the North Chhotanagpur division. He said CPIML can put up a strong fight in at least 12 constituencies. tnn
