CM reviews projects to be unveiled by PM on Oct 20
Varanasi: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the completed projects to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his proposed visit on Oct 20. He asked the principal secretaries of urban development, housing, irrigation and Namami Gange to jointly finalise a comprehensive plan for Kashi's development, including drinking water and sewerage.
After reviewing the presentations on ready projects that can be inaugurated by the PM and new projects for foundation laying, the CM issued a strict directive to officials and engineers of all departments concerned to complete ongoing projects at a rapid pace with quality.

He said that delays at any level in completing the projects will not be tolerated.
Directing the formulation of solid plans for further development of Kashi, especially by addressing the city's sewage and drinking water issues, the CM asked for a survey to be conducted with a specialised agency. He called for a joint meeting of the principal secretaries of departments, especially urban development, housing, irrigation and Namami Gange, along with other senior officials concerned, to devise a comprehensive plan. He asked the officials of the agencies concerned to supervise the works of sewage and water supply projects being done by L&T for their proper execution.
Regarding the ambitious ropeway project, the CM asked officials to clear all obstacles in the construction to ensure swift progress. Comprehensive plans for the Varuna river channelisation and other projects should be developed with department heads, he said, asking officials to revise the plans for the operation shops in the KV Dham area and ensure easier access for more visitors. He also asked for better efforts to make village panchayats self-reliant through rural markets, fish farming and shopping complexes.
For upcoming festivals, the CM said all routes should be fully illuminated with proper cleanliness, while all necessary arrangements at idol immersion sites should be completed before the beginning of the immersion process. The VMC, PWD, Varanasi development authority and the electricity department were directed to ensure cleanliness, have roads in proper shape and supply uninterrupted power supply. He also emphasised to focus on making Kashi a plastic-free city.

While reviewing law and order, the CM asked police officials to ensure adequate security measures during festivities with heightened vigilance and deployment of security personnel, especially during Durga puja and Vijayadashami. He said equal focus should be there on ensuring no inconvenience to the public. He also reviewed the works being done for streamlining traffic management.
Awareness programmes to combat cybercrime should be conducted in various groups, business organisations and educational institutions, he added.Divisional commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma made a detailed presentation on the projects ready for inauguration by the PM.
Those present at the meeting included mayor Ashok Tiwari, district panchayat chairperson Poonam Maurya, MLCs Hansraj Vishwakarma and Dharmendra Rai, MLAs including Neelkanth Tiwari, Saurabh Srivastava, Awadhesh Singh, T Ram and Sunil Patel, commissioner of police Mohit Agrawal, ADG Zone Piyush Mordia and district magistrate S Rajalingam.
