Hyderabad: Chief minister A
Revanth Reddy is expected to travel to New Delhi on Sunday to attend a key meeting on left-wing extremism (LWE) to be chaired by Union home minister
Amit Shah. The meeting, scheduled for Monday in the national capital, will involve chief ministers and other senior officers from states affected by LWE.
Revanth Reddy, who is also the home minister, has requested a meeting with Amit Shah either before or after the main event.
He aims to seek central funds, as only a meagre 416 crore was released compared to the 10,320 crore sought by the
Telangana govt for damages caused by rain and floods in the state. Depending on his appointments, Revanth would also meet other Union ministers to seek central support for Musi, Metro rail, and irrigation projects.
The chief ministers of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh have been invited. Ministers from five Union ministries closely involved in supporting LWE-affected states are also expected to attend. Senior officers from the Centre are also likely to participate as well.
On Tuesday, the Centre had released 416 crore to Telangana as the first tranche of flood relief and 1,036 crore to Andhra Pradesh. Revanth has been urging the Centre to provide flood relief to Telangana on par with Andhra Pradesh.
"CM Revanth Reddy is expected to submit a comprehensive report on the losses suffered by Telangana due to rain and flood fury. So far, three reports have been submitted to the Centre, including those from the central team that visited the rain-devastated districts, the Union agriculture minister, and the state govt. CM Revanth, in his meeting with the central team, submitted department-wise losses along with photographs. He will urge Amit Shah to do justice to Telangana and also seek funds and allocation of more IPS officers to Telangana," sources in the CMO said.
Depending on the availability of Rahul Gandhi and other senior AICC leaders, Revanth would also meet them, if possible. The possibility of the CM discussing the issue of forests and endowments minister Konda Surekha's comments against the Akkineni Nagarjuna family is not being ruled out.
Meanwhile, aspirants for cabinet berths are expecting that Revanth Reddy would also discuss the cabinet expansion, but CMO sources did not confirm this.
