5 injured as 2 MPT engines collide near Mul rly station
Chandrapur: A junior engineer was among five railway employees who were injured on Saturday morning when two Multipurpose Tamper (MPT) engines collided near Mul railway station of the South East Central Railway (SECR). The incident occurred at a time when the SECR authorities were preparing for the visit of the general manager of the division. Three trains were held up for some time due to the accident.

Sources sais, the railway authorities had undertaken a block in the Mul Marora-Rajoli section for maintenance work in the morning hours. Reports indicate that one MPT engine was stationed at the site for routine track maintenance when a second engine, approaching the station, collided head-on with it. The collision caused significant damage to the front section of one of the engines. The injured employees were rushed to the nearby sub-district hospital in Mul for initial treatment, with some later transferred to Chandrapur.
The persons injured were identified as Diwakar, a junior engineer, along with technicians Ranjit Kumar, Puroshattam Prasad, Omprakash Sahu, while another, Anil Pendam. Kumar is reported to be in a serious condition.
Eyewitnesses reported that the loud crash briefly caused panic in the area. Railway authorities are investigating the incident and have committed to reviewing safety protocols to prevent future accidents.
