Bhubaneswar: To bolster the disaster management system of the state, the govt on Saturday resolved to restructure the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) with augmented staff strength.
As per the decision, OSDMA has now been segregated into four broad divisions — general, capacity building, project & technology, and finance — each headed by an executive director.
Consequently, the staff strength of OSDMA will increase from 102 to 129 after restructuring.
The govt has issued a notification that states “OSDMA, established in the aftermath of the 1999 super cyclone, is mandated to carry out and plan for disaster management to ensure timely and effective response to disasters in the state.”
It said that the new divisions will comprise core staff on deputation, technical experts, consultants, personnel engaged through service providers, and personnel attached by other organisations. Details of strength and corresponding pay matrix will be as per the resolution of the finance department, read the notification.
