In Jind, higher turnout in rural areas
Jind: Rural seats in Jind district, which had been the epicentre of farmers’ ire against the three now-repealed farm laws and BJP-JJP leaders, recorded higher voter turnouts than the district’s lone urban seat on Sunday.
Uchana Kalan, from where JJP leader Dushyant Chautala is in the race, had a turnout of 75.4%. It was followed by a turnout of 74.3% in Julana, where former wrestler Vinesh Phogat is contesting on a Congress ticket.
1x1 polls
Jind, which is an urban seat, recorded a turnout of just 65.6%. Safidon and Narwana recorded turnouts of 74.7% and 70.7%, respectively. During the 2020-2021 farm agitation, the hostility towards BJP-JJP govt had come to such a situation that Dushyant was not allowed into his own constituency. In the 2019 polls, JJP won from Julana, Uchana Kalan and Narwana. BJP won from Jind, while Congress won from Safidon.
