Maratha outfit’s Thane unit may field own candidate in assembly election

Thane: The Thane unit of Maratha Kranti Morcha, a non-political outfit, plans to announce and support candidates for the state polls who would represent its cause. Coordinators Santosh Suryarao and Pravin Pisal said the outfit will reach out to members. "We may give political parties reasonable time to announce an ideal candidate. Else, we will push our own contestant," said coordinator Santosh Palande.A recent survey had shown a sizeable presence of Marathas in three of the four seats represented by Mahayuti in the region. —Manoj Badgeri
