Despite losing over two and a half days to rain and a wet outfield, India’s aggressive strategy earned it an unlikely win over Bangladesh in the second Test at Kanpur to complete a 2-0 clean sweep.

India is currently top of the World Test Championship standings with a PCT of 74.2 after 11 matches. The team is in pole position to make its third consecutive final.

The main rivals for a spot in the final are Australia and Sri Lanka who have a PCT of 62.50 and 55.56 after 12 and nine matches respectively.

Rohit Sharma’s men will next face New Zealand in a three-match Test series starting October 16. A 3-0 sweep in the series will all but confirm India’s place in the WTC final.

Following the home season, India will face off against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar series down under in December which will be the team’s last series of the current cycle.
