Tickets for recent fan events and performances by well-known South Korean musicians like Byeon Woo Seok and Lim Young Woong were significantly oversold to fans.

Seven ticket scalpers who bought several tickets to renowned fan events, concerts, and performances, such as Byeon Woo Seok’s fan gathering and Lim Young Woong’s concerts, have been detained, according to a story by the South Korean media outlet Sports Chosun. These seven scalpers most likely purchased the tickets using macro programs and then resold them for prices greater than ten times what they originally cost.

The Crime Prevention and Order Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency declared that seven individuals had been taken into custody on this particular day. Two of the seven individuals are accused of breaking the Performance Act: Ms. A, a woman in her 20s, and Mr. B, a male college student in his 20s.

Macro programs are those that can secure several tickets by logging in in less than a minute or two, and are made to do specified tasks repeatedly with only one input.

The most costly ticket ever sold on the black market was for Byeon Woo Seok, star of Lovely Runner, to attend a fan meeting in July. The tickets were resold for 2.35 million KRW, which is 30 times the original price, while they were originally priced at 77000 KRW. The second item was the 800,000 KRW concert tickets for Lim Young Woong, which are ordinarily sold for 177,000 KRW each.
