The total value of China's international trade in goods and services reached 4.18 trillion yuan in August 2024, marking a 4 per cent year-on-year increase, according to official data released on Friday by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.In US dollar terms, exports amounted to $322.4 billion, while imports stood at $263.5 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of $58.9 billion.
Goods exports were valued at nearly 2.07 trillion yuan, while imports totalled around 1.5 trillion yuan, creating a surplus of 572.4 billion yuan in the goods sector. However, the services sector posted a deficit, with exports valued at 230.8 billion yuan and imports reaching 383 billion yuan, leading to a shortfall of 152.2 billion yuan, as per Chinese media reports.
