Prasar Bharati has issued a call for proposals to acquire pre-produced programs and feature films under a license fee or royalty arrangement for its digital and linear platforms.
The public broadcaster is sourcing feature films that meet specific criteria: the films must be ready-made or already produced, not older than five years, and must not have premiered on any other digital platform (for exclusive digital rights) or television network (for exclusive TV rights).
These films should have a U or U/A CBFC certificate for satellite rights; however, films without a CBFC certificate may apply for digital rights, but these submissions will only be considered after a detailed preview.
All submitted films must comply with Prasar Bharati’s Programme Code and any other relevant guidelines or regulations set by the government or regulatory bodies.
Prasar Bharati plans to source approximately 50 feature films to support the launch of its OTT platform, with a weekly drop scheduled until the end of the current financial year.
The telecast and streaming schedule will be determined after the sourcing process, based on the category, duration, and territorial rights of the acquired films.
Proposals will be evaluated based on five specific parameters, with a priority given to those scoring over 75 out of 100 points.
The deadline for submitting applications is October 20, 2024.
