Poonch, September 25 : Voting is underway for the second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections on Wednesday, with ballots being cast across 26 constituencies. Special measures have been taken to ensure the smooth conduct of the voting process in the Mendhar sector, which is located near the India-Pakistan Line of Control (LoC).

Security at the polling stations has been significantly tightened to ensure that voters can cast their ballots in a safe environment. Images from the Darana E Pink Polling Booth in Mendhar show that all necessary arrangements have been made for the convenience of voters. A heavy deployment of security forces at the polling centers is providing a sense of safety to the local population. Additionally, the number of polling staff has been increased to handle the voting process efficiently.

Local authorities have stated that they are making every possible effort to ensure that voters can participate without fear. They have urged the electorate to take part in this democratic process enthusiastically.

This marks the first election in Jammu and Kashmir in nearly a decade, and there is visible excitement among voters. Since early morning, large crowds have been gathering at polling stations to cast their votes and choose their preferred candidates.

In this second phase of the elections, voting is taking place across 26 constituencies on Wednesday. Fifteen seats from three districts in Kashmir and 11 seats from three districts in Jammu are up for grabs. A total of 239 candidates are contesting in this phase, and the fate of these candidates will be decided by the voters.

The results of the election will be announced on October 8.

In light of the second phase of elections, political parties have been making various promises to win over voters. Some leaders have specifically raised the issue of restoring Article 370, promising that if their party comes to power, they will work towards reinstating it. Additionally, promises related to development, employment, and social welfare have also been made.
