Boucheron Opens First US Store, in New York

September 24, 24 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - Boucheron, the luxury French jeweler, has opened its first store in the US.
It already has 34 boutiques worldwide, including Paris, London, Tokyo, and Dubai.
Boucheron, founded in 1858, has long been popular with US clients, among them the Vanderbilt (shipping and railroad) and Astor (fur, real estate, hotels) families, and actresses Elizabeth Taylor and Rita Hayworth.
"The maison has fostered close ties with a rollcall of US clients throughout its history," the company said.
"Wealthy Americans in the 19th century would cross the Atlantic to tour Europe and buy the latest fashionable things."
The new 3,900 sq ft Art Deco boutique, on Madison Avenue, New York, has been designed to bring together elements of both American and French culture.
"After eight years at the helm of Boucheron, this is a dream come true. The United States has always held a very special place in our maison's history," said Boucheron's CEO Helene Poulit-Duquesne.
