Chess Olympiad 2024 LIVE Updates, Round 11: Gukesh winning vs Fedoseev; Women face Azerbaijan as India eyes historic gold in both sections

Gukesh consolidates his position against Fedoseev. He has plus 1.5 according to the engines at the moment. Can he get his eighth win of this tournament? 

Nurman Alua has a favourable position against USA’s Alice Lee, who made a blunder on the board 4. Kazakhstan can win it from here. 

Vantika Agrawal has 30 minutes less on the clock than Khanim Balajayeva in an equal position. This could be tricky for the Indian on board 4. 

Gukesh takes his bishop back to f5 and his advantage in the position seems to have fizzled out. 

Praggnanandhaa took 14 minutes to play his 14th move -- bishop to e4 and is 11 minutes down on the clock against Demchenko. 

The first game in the match between China and the USA in the 11th Round ended in a draw after a threefold repetition.

Vaishali is blitzing out her moves as the queens are already off the board by 15 moves. It’s a Catalan opening against Ulviyya Fataliyeva. 

Vantika and Khanim Balajayeva have the Moscow Variation of Sicilian Defense. 

India has a much stern task at hand in the women’s section where Azerbaijan is looking to sprawl. India must win this to stand a chance for the gold medal. 

Vidit exchanges his light-squared bishop for a knight with the white pieces against Matej Sebenik in the Sicilian Defense game. 

Arjun goes for the Scandinavian Defense against Jan Subelj who is almost 300 rated below him. 

Praggnanandhaa, meanwhile goes for Queen’s Gambit Accepted opening against Anton Demchenko. 

Gukesh develops his knights and light-squared bishop against Fedoseev in the Indian Game. 

The India men’s team beat No. 1 seed USA 2.5-1.5 in the 10th round of the Chess Olympiad 2024 on Saturday at the SYMA Sports and Conference Centre in Budapest, Hungary.

The women’s team also came back to winning ways, handing China a 2.5-1.5 loss.

In the open section, D. Gukesh and Arjun Erigaisi continued their stellar run and struck for India. Gukesh beat World No. 2 Fabiano Caruana while Arjun got the better of Leinier Dominguez Perez, both with white pieces.

The 10th round will start at 11:00 local (Hungary) time, 14:30 IST.
