Mountain Mayhem: Fires & Beats

Friends Simon Miccio and Matthieu Rosinsky co-hosted a party on Sunday, Aug. 25, titled Fires & Beats, at Rosinsky’s residence near McLain Flats. The theme was as chic as can be. We arrived to open-fire cooking of meat and vegetables suspended over a flame outside and Argentine Asado-style, slow-roasted meats, and vegetables prepared on a grill. After the food was cooked, it was plated, passed, and served with chimichurri sauce.

DJs rotated during the evening, with Rafa Valencia setting the tone at the start then Savy Fontana and Natti Palmer going back-to-back as the night grew dark and the up lights were lit.

Coinciding with the Aspen Valley Polo Club’s closing tournament for the summer, a stream of players, friends, and spectators arrived throughout the night.

Special guest Mr. Brainwash, a French-born, Los Angeles-based street artist, joined the polo crowd, having designed larger-than-life art sculptures that spell out “Polo Is Beautiful” for Aspen Valley Polo Club in Carbondale and Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington, Florida. I recognized his work from seeing a “Beverly Hills is Beautiful” sculpture in the spring, connected with the eccentric and energetic artist (whose real name is Thierry Guetta) at the party, and learned he got discovered from being in a film directed by Banksy in 2010.

Co-presented by Simon Miccio Gallery, Fires & Beats was a vibrant way to close out the summer and engage with interesting peeps. Keep an eye out for upcoming art exhibitions at Simon Miccio Gallery, set directly across from Aspen Art Museum on Hyman Avenue. Expect to see work from established international artists alongside emerging young talents, and discover collaborative partnerships with like-minded entities — all with the intent to enrich Aspen’s vibrant arts scene.
