Aspen traffic delays expected through next week

Drivers and residents in Aspen should be prepared for multiple road closures and traffic disruptions through next week.
This is due to the following maintenance projects:
- On Friday, Sept. 20, Pitkin County Road and Bridge will conduct chip-sealing operations on Airport Frontage Road. Drivers should expect delays due to fresh oil and loose gravel; caution is advised when traveling in this area.
- The city will close Power Plant Road on Monday, Sept. 23, to perform asphalt work on Smuggler Bridge. The road will be closed to through traffic for one day, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Access will only be granted to residents living on the road. Motorists should plan alternative routes during the full-day closure.
- The inspection of the Castle Creek Bridge by the Colorado Department of Transportation is on Wednesday, Sept. 25. CDOT will inspect from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., requiring a one-lane closure on the bridge. Traffic will be managed with alternating flows, allowing vehicles to travel both inbound and outbound without a detour. Commuters should anticipate delays and are encouraged to use mass transit or cycle to minimize the impact on traffic.
- The Snowmass Canyon resurfacing Project along Colorado Highway 82 will be ending operations sometime in October. Until then, drivers can still expect up to 15-minute delays, Monday through Fridays, 7 a.m. through 7 p.m.
