Ha, that's a silly price for a voltage converter. What would be really funny if there's just a resistor inside there.

But it is true, some buck converters only work if a load is applied, and won't show the correct voltage if there isn't a load connected.

Most 12v POE adapters are like this — you can't get a stable voltage reading if there's no load on the output, the meter will just show random numbers. When I first saw this, I thought it was defective.

Same with some kinds of energy monitoring smart plugs, something needs to be plugged in to get a voltage reading from the socket with a meter.

I will confirm the voltage after connecting to the GPON terminal.
