Red flag warning, fire weather watch issued for Pitkin County
A Red Flag Warning for high winds and extreme fire conditions has been issued for Pitkin and Eagle counties from noon to 8 p.m. on Sept. 12, according to a PitkinAlert.
Additionally, the Grand Junction National Weather Service issued a Fire Weather Watch for areas below 8,000 feet from the afternoon through the evening on Thursday, Sept. 12, according to a PitkinAlert on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecasted to occur. The watch below 8,000 feet is for gusty winds, low humidity and dry fuels.
