Android Samsung green line issue after software update

Does Samsung offer complimentary fix for green line issue post software update for out of warranty phone?

If not, how much did you pay for the fix?
 
^ Is that mentioned anywhere on their tnc? I could not find much on their website.
 
What model is it? Would it be the same panel used on the One Plus 8 and above phones which have green line issues?
I have a OP8 which needs to be replaced. Thankfully One Plus claims they will offer lifetime validity.
 
Situations like these remind me why I stopped updating all my devices long back.

Post COVID, the shoddy quality of software updates has marred every device out there, including iPhones, which were considered to be the industry's 'gold standard'.

These mega-corpos guaranteeing 6-7 years of software updates fail to quality test even the current year's updates, which clearly shows that you cannot trust these people as their 'not-so-sorry butt' can render your perfectly working device a paper weight at any moment.

Planned obsolecence. Done legally.
 
I have completely given up on Samsung due to such quality issues.
 
Green line after update is a widespread issue, both on android and iOS. I think this has nothing to do with the actual update, but the act of restarting the phone for update is doing something to the screen. One more common thing among manufacturers is that it is always an OLED display.

The issue of green line on IPS screen is almost non existent when compared to OLED. OLED in itself is very complicated technology.

The cause of this is still unknown.
 
So I was right in suspecting that it has something to do with the panel itself? However when compared to Samsung, OnePlus failure was still insane.
 
If it is a panel manufacturing defect...companies should take up responsibility to replace it for free...even after warranty period...

here in India, company avoid honouring warranty even in warranty period and you expect them to offer service after warranty period.

That's what I think, because green screen/line issue is repairable on apple by 3rd party repair 90% of the time, and they only repair the screen. So it seems to be some kind of fault within the panel. There has to be some reason for this :-

Either the screens don't like the vibration or excessive heat or some combination of something else, something is definitely wearing down within the panel which results in a green line upon restart.

A power cycle is very heavy on electronics components.
 
Samsung offers free replacement of screen and battery ( yes both) for phones suffering with green line ( or multi color lines) issue. I availed it for my S21 FE couple of weeks back.

The conditions are

1. No physical or liquid damage on phone.
2. Purchase date within 3 years.
3. Model should be eligible for this program, the list of models are updated time to time. You can call/email/DM on twitter Samsung support to get latest list of models. Normally most Galaxy S series models are included.

Also, during repair they change full frame including display not just the display itself. My phone was about 20 months old and out of warranty.

Very true. My samsung TV stopped working. Even though it was under warranty the service guy informed that MB is burnt due to electrical fluctuations. I had a premium Vguard stabiliser and still they said its burnt due to voltage fluctuations and refused to replace under warranty.

just off topic, those so called Brand Experts are have ZERO practical knowledge, better go with local but old & reputed tech person. I have 12 yrs. long experience in dealing with such Brand Engineers .. utter shits they are with bookish knowledge.
 
Samsung offers a free ONE-TIME replacement for displays suffering from the Green-Line issue provided the phone is less than 3 years old:

However, according to the Tweet, the service is limited to:
•S20 Series
•Note20/Ultra
•S21 Series (Excluded FE)
•S22 Ultra (SM-S908E)

It will be interesting to know how @bigbyte managed to get his/her Samsung S21 FE serviced for free.
