IND B 65/2 in 30 overs vs IND A at lunch

A direct hit from Hrithik Shokeen cut short Saransh Jain’s stay in the middle. Saransh steered the outside off delivery towards point but Shokeen was attentive to dislodge the stumps. 

The first session also comes to an end with this wicket. 

IND D 76/7 in 30.4 overs vs IND C at lunch

Khaleel Ahmed and Shivam Dube are testing Sarfaraz and Musheer’s patience with probing lines. The Khan brothers have been solid until now. 

Axar gets into an attacking mode. He goes down on knees to slogsweep Manav Suthar for a maximum over cow corner. India D needs more of this from Axar. 

Partly cloudy but the heat is still making for pretty strenuous playing conditions. There’s a cross breeze that greets the players at interludes which I’m sure they won’t mind.

A big wicket for Khaleel Ahmed who dismissed set-batter Yashasvi Jaiswal on 30. His 59-ball stay ended after getting caught by Shashwat Rawat. 

Manav Suthar castles KS Bharat for his first wicket. IND D is six down under 50. 

Good half an hour for India A. They have dismissed Easwaran, routinely beaten batters and not given away runs. A couple of edges have dropped short of the slip cordon.

IND B 53/1 vs IND A

Musheer looked solid and an able partner to Jaiswal. They both steer India B near 50 vs India A. 

KS Bharat and Axar Patel are in the middle as India D is in a dire need of a partnership here. 

Avesh Khan strikes for India A! Easwaran, who endured the tough first hour was dismissed after throwing the bat to an out-swinging delivery. 

Interesting end to the first hour’s play. Both Akash Deep and Avesh Khan, in the last two overs, have drawn the batters forward and beaten them. But for that, Easwaran and Jaiswal have left the ball largely well. A few balls have kept low and a few risen from a good length. India B largely in control

Himanshu Chauhan strikes for the first time today. He removes Ricky Bhui, who tried to pull the short ball but ended up getting a top edge straight to mid on. Bhui out for 4.

Avesh Khan is begun his spell. Hasn’t perfectly found his length as of now but has made sure runs aren’t leaking. 

Ricky Bhui and KS Bharat have tried to simmer down action. Solid defence and good judgement to leave the ball outside off. But still India C is very much in charge right now. 

Jaiswal and Easwaran have been solid with their defence especially the latter. The batters are finding the odd boundaries. Running between the wickets has been good. 

Vyshak gets two in one over. Devdutt Padikkal, the new batter, ends up driving the ball straight to covers. 

Off the first ball of the next over of Anshul Kamboj, Dubey also nicks the ball straight to keeper. India D is in trouble. 

Vyshak gets a much-deserved wicket as he baits Shreyas to play on the frontfoot and the batter ends up nicking the ball to the keeper. Iyer out for 9. 

Jaiswal finds a second boundary after a gap of nearly five overs. Plenty of movement off the wicket on offer in Bengaluru for seamers to dominate the proceedings so far. 

Yash Dubey survives a close LBW call. He was struck in front against Vyshak Vijaykumar, but umpire gave him not out. India C decided to review it, and the decision stayed due to umpire’s call. 

Jaiswal got things underway with a four off the first ball. However, India A bowlers - Khaleel and Akash Deep - have pulled things back with some tight lines. 

Atharva Taide, who got himself and the team off the mark with a four, is out in the first over itself. Taide tried to hook Kamboj’s bouncer and gets caught in the deep. 

Shreyas Iyer in at three and is off the mark with a single off the first ball.

Duleep Trophy squad updates: Sanju Samson replaces Ishan Kishan in India D squad

Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson was named as Ishan Kishan’s replacement in the India D squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy after the latter sustained a groin injury in the ongoing Buchi Babu Memorial Tournament, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced late on Wednesday night.

In Indian domestic cricket’s recent history, Duleep Trophy is the laboratory. Played in the zonal format for more than five decades, the red-ball tournament, starting 2016-17, has seen players inorganically distributed into teams named blue, green and red, the colour of the ball changed and even played under lights.

Two years ago, it went back to the original region-wise format only for the BCCI top-brass to shake things up again.

Duleep Trophy: Dress rehearsal for National team selection set to begin as India A faces India B in opening clash

IND-A vs IND-B: The cream of India’s cricketing talent, including national-team India regulars such as Shubman Gill, K. L. Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav and Yashasvi Jaiswal will all be in action in Bengaluru on Thursday.

Shreyas Iyer’s shot at redeeming himself in red-ball cricket will begin Thursday when he leads India D against Ruturaj Gaikwad’s India C in the first round of the Duleep Trophy at the Rural Trust Development Stadium in Anantapur.

The 29-year-old, who last played a Test for India in February, was reprimanded for not representing Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal last season and omitted from the BCCI central contract list. He subsequently returned for the semifinal and final but is still some distance away from being exonerated by the selectors.
