Paris Paralympics 2024, Day 7 LIVE: Harvinder reaches quarterfinals in archery, Sachin wins silver medal in men’s shot put F46, Indian results

Tokyo Paralympics bronze medallist Harvinder Singh will face Colombia’s Hector Julio Ramirez in the men’s individual recurve open quarterfinals today at 9:17PM IST.

Ramirez has just registered a massive 6-4 upset against top-seeded Frenchman Guillaume Toucoullet, who set a new Paralympic Record of 652 in the ranking round. 

Brilliant run for Tokyo Paralympics bronze medallist Harvinder Singh continues. He defeats Indonesia’s Setiawan 6-2 to reach the quarterfinals.

Harvinder will face the winner of the pre-quarterfinal between top seed and local favourite Guillaume Toucoullet and Colombia’s Hector Julio Ramirez for a place in the semifinals.

Harvinder’s quarterfinal match will be at 9:17PM IST.

The Indonesian takes a tight first set 28-27 and leads 2-0.

SECOND SET.

Setiawan - 7, 9, 9. Total - 25

Harvinder wins the second set convincingly - 28-25 - and makes it 2-2.

THIRD SET.

Harvinder - 10, 9, 9. Total - 28

Setiawan - 8, 9, 10. Total - 27

Harvinder wins the third set 28-27 and takes a 4-2 lead. Clutch archery from the Tokyo bronze medallist.

FOURTH SET.

Harvinder - 9, 10, 9. Total - 28

Setiawan - 9, 0, 6. Total - 15

Harvinder wins the fourth set 28-15 and takes the match 6-2. Unfortunately for Setiawan, he completely missed the target when it mattered the most in the fourth set.

India’s Harvinder Singh will face Indonesia’s Setiawan for a place in the quarterfinals. 

Setiawan has just defeated Iran’s Gholamreza Rahimi 6-4.

Tokyo Paralympics bronze medallist Harvinder Singh is through to 1/8 elimination round in men’s individual recurve open event with a 7-3 win over Chinese Taipei’s Tseng Lung-Hui.

Harvinder will next face the winner of the 1/16 elimination round match between Indonesia’s Setiawan and Iran’s Gholamreza Rahimi.

Harvinder’s next match is expected to start at 6:40PM IST.

Harvinder Singh is in action in para archery men’s individual recurve open 1/16 elimination round against Chinese Taipei’s Tseng Lung-Hui. The Indian had won a historic bronze medal at the previous edition in Tokyo three years ago.

Harvinder wins second set 27-26 and takes a 3-1 lead.

Excellent comeback from 65-year-old Tseng to win the third set 29-26 and make it 3-3.

FOURTH SET.

Harvinder - 9, 7, 8. Total - 24

Tseng - 10, 7, 6. Total - 23

Well, well, well!!! Harvinder has won a set which looked destined to go Tseng’s way. Harvinder wins 24-23 and leads 5-3 with one set to go. A tie in this set would be enough for the Indian.

FIFTH SET.

Harvinder - 8, 9, 8. Total - 25

Tseng - 0, 10, 7. Total - 17

Harvinder wins the set 25-17 and with it, the match 7-3. A bit of an anti-climactic ending with Tseng, who was shooting so well, all of a sudden hit a six and then completely missed the target with the next arrow.

“I had wanted to win the gold medal, but it did not happen. It’s my best distance but I am not satisfied. I feel I could have done better. It was not my day,” Khilari said.

“It was a tough competition and Greg Stewart is a great player. I made small mistakes in my technique. I will work harder and I hope to beat him next time.”

India’s para-archer Harvinder Singh will be in action against Tseng Lung-Hui Chinese Taipei men’s individual Recurve Open 1/16 Elimination at 17:49 PM IST.

Paramjeet finishes eighth in men’s up to 49kg final with his best lift being 150kg on his first attempt. He later attempted 157kg and 161kg but failed to lift. 

Amisha Rawat finishes in 14th place, bringing an end to her outing. She recorded a Personal Best of 9.25m but it wasn’t enough. 

Paramjeet Singh was unable to lift 157kg in Attempt 2. His third attempt will be 161kg.

Paris Paralympics 2024: Complete list of world records broken

Paris Paralympics 2024: In the first four days of the quadrennial event, close to 40 world records across multiple sports have been broken.

Parmjeet Kumar is competing in the Men’s up to 49kg Final. He clears his first attempt of 150kg. 

Amisha Rawat is taking part in the Women’s Shot Put F46 final. 

First throw - 9.25m (Personal Best)

Second throw - 8.72m

Tokyo silver medallist Bhavinaben Patel bows out in the quarterfinal after losing 1-3 to China’s Ying Zhou.

Rudransh Khandelwal and Nihal Singh failed to qualify in the mixed 50m pistol SH1 event. 

Nihal finished in 19th with a score of 522 with 6 inner tens while Rudransh finished 22nd with a score of 517 with 3 inner tens.

Sachin Khilari grabs a silver medal in the men’s shot put F46 final. This takes India’s medal tally to 21!

As it stands, it doesn’t look promising for the Indians in the Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 Qualification with both oustide the Top 8. 

Sachin Khilari is in second with a throw of 16.32m in the Men’s Shot Put F46 Final. 

Mohd. Yasser is in 8th with a throw of 14.01m and it looks like Rohit Kumar will not be continuing his campaign after three throws.
