Amazon Labor Day FAQs

Is Amazon the best place to grab Labor Day deals?

While Amazon is notoriously known for its Prime Day savings events, it also frequently runs sales during other major holidays, too. We've seen savings for Labor Day begin as early as the beginning of last week, and expect some deals to linger around even further. Just like during other sale events, it's a shopper's market. With so many major retailers competing for the same sales, it's likely you'll see chains like Best Buy, Walmart, Target, and more price match Amazon's offers (or even outcompete them), and it's also possible that other retailers have better discounts, stock, or selection. Be sure to check out multiple retailers before checking out.

However, if you're shopping for Amazon exclusive products like Kindles, Fire TVs, Echo devices, and more. Amazon will likely have the best discounts as they own those particular flagship products and many other retailers don't carry them.

How did we choose these Amazon deals?

ZDNET only writes about deals we want to buy -- devices and products we desire, need, or would recommend. Our experts looked for deals that were at least 20% off (or are hardly ever on sale), using established price comparison tools and trackers to determine whether the deal is actually on sale and how frequently it drops.

We also looked over customer reviews to find out what matters to real people who already own and use the deals we're recommending. Our recommendations may also be based on our own testing -- in addition to extensive research and comparison shopping. The goal is to deliver the most accurate advice to help you shop smarter.

When will these deals expire?

Deals are subject to sell out or expire at any time, though ZDNET remains committed to finding, sharing, and updating the best product deals for you to score the best savings. These deals are centered around Labor Day, so you could expect them to fizzle out after September 2. Our team of experts regularly checks in on the deals we share to ensure they are still live and obtainable. We're sorry if you've missed out on a deal, but don't fret -- we're constantly finding new chances to save and sharing them with you at ZDNET.com

Do you need an Amazon Prime Membership to get these deals?

Amazon's Labor Day savings are open to mostly everyone. While there may be select exclusive deals and offers for Prime members, a membership isn't required to shop these seasonal savings. If you're thinking about shopping Amazon's upcoming October Prime Day, however, you'll need a membership for that.

How much is an Amazon Prime membership?

Amazon Prime costs $14.99 per month, or you can purchase an annual membership for $139, which will save you a few dollars.

College students and those aged 18-24 can get a discount and pay $7.49 per month or $69 per year. In addition, those with qualified government assistance (which may include select seniors) can receive a Prime membership for just $6.99 after their free trial.

Do Amazon packages come on Labor Day?

Historically, you won't likely see any packages from Amazon on Labor Day, thanks to its federal distinction. However, you can expect to see orders arrive in the days leading up to Monday's holiday and immediately following the end.
