Eighth accused has been arrested in the mob lynching incident where a migrant worker from West Bengal was allegedly beaten to death in Haryana's Charkhi Dadri district over suspicions that he had eaten beef, police said. The eighth accused was arrested on Sunday. Earlier, the police increased security in the area to prevent further unrest or any untoward incident. Badhra Deputy Supretindent of Police (DSP) Bharat Bhushan told ANI that both SSB and state police personnel have been deployed in the district and are closely monitoring social media posts.

Assam: Drugs worth Rs 30 cr seized; three peddlers caught
In a major drug haul, Yaba tablets worth around Rs 30 crore were seized in Assam's Cachar district and three peddlers arrested, officials said on Monday.
According to Karimganj Superintendent of Police Partha Protim Das, an anti-narcotics operation was launched on Sunday night at Jalalpur area under Badarpur police station after receiving specific input about the drugs. "A vehicle was intercepted and it led to the recovery of 1,00,000 Yaba tablets from a secret chamber of the vehicle. It was coming from Mizoram," he added.

Andhra receives power boats from central govt for flood relief operations in Vijayawada

5 abandoned houses burnt in Manipur village, suspected militants chased away: Police
Suspected militants burnt at least five abandoned houses at a village in Manipur's Imphal West district before they were chased away by security forces, police said on Monday. The militants had started firing indiscriminately from hilltops to the low-lying valley areas of Koutruk and neighbouring Kadangband from Sunday afternoon and managed to reach the outskirts of Koutruk village, a senior officer said.
