Are you or your business the best in the valley? Or maybe you want to recognize and celebrate your personal favorites? Well then, it’s time for some friendly competition — our Best of Aspen, Snowmass, Basalt contest kicks off today.

Best of Aspen, Snowmass, Basalt is the community’s original contest where you decide who deserves top honors. This is your chance to recognize the people, services, and places that make our valley special, while helping your favorites to earn bragging rights.

Considering how amazing our communities are, it should be no surprise that the competition is stiff. Last year Parc Aspen and The Edge Restaurant & Bar tied for best wine list. Meanwhile, by just one vote, Wild Willow Outfitters bested Aspen Outfitting Company for best fly-fishing outfitter, and Cathers Home Furniture + Interior Design beat out Aspen Emporium for best home décor. As for the most popular categories for 2023, affordable eats topped the list, followed by male realtor, aesthetician, bartender, female realtor, and nonprofit. The all-important question is, who’s going to top the list this year?

Just like last year, the nomination round is open now, while a voting round goes from Sept. 25 to Oct. 3.

In addition to every person and business that’s nominated once again moving to the final voting round, we have a new website for the program, https://www.aspentimes.com/bestof2024#. The site is easy to navigate, makes nominating and voting a breeze, plus anyone can make suggested updates and corrections to business listings.

All it takes is one vote to be nominated, no delegates required. Meaning your vote really counts. Ready, set, nominate!

Aspen City Council revives ballot discussion for Castle Creek Bridge

The ballot issue is presumed to mimic a 2001 ballot question that would allow voters to choose on whether bus lanes can be added to the Preferred Alternative, which would involve a cut-and-cover tunnel, and utilize the previously approved easement across the Marolt Open Space to provide a second bridge across Castle Creek.
