Court issues release warrant for BRS leader K Kavitha in corruption and money laundering cases related to Delhi excise 'scam'.
The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has extended the judicial custody of CM Arvind Kejriwal until September 3 in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case related to the excise policy case.

The Supreme Court granted bail to BRS leader K Kavitha in the alleged Delhi excise policy scam today. A bench of Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan was hearing Kavitha's pleas seeking bail in the corruption and money laundering cases linked to the alleged scam which are being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) respectively. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Kavitha, sought bail saying the probe against her has already been completed by the two agencies.
Senior JMM leader and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren is set to join the BJP on Friday, Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a late night post on X. Champai met union home minister Amit Shah late Monday night in New Delhi along with Sarma, who is also the saffron party's co-incharge of Jharkhand assembly elections. Last week, the veteran leader, who had resigned as chief minister to make way for Hemant Soren upon his release from jail, accused the party leadership of insulting him.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha stated that the central government will send a team to the state to assess the damage caused by the floods. At least 26 people died as the floods devastated the state. A total of 17 lakh people were estimated to have been affected, and of them, 1.37 lakh were rendered homeless, officials said. "Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured me that he will be sending a central team shortly to assess the damage caused by the floods. The central team will physically visit the flood-hit areas," Saha told reporters on the sidelines of a Janmashtami programme on Monday.
Over 70 people were dead in several cases of terror attacks reported in the Balochistan province of Pakistan, Al Jazeera reported citing military and police officials. The country's military said 14 soldiers and police were killed. 21 terrorists were also killed in fighting in a major attack that targeted vehicles on a major highway in Bela, a town in Lasbela district. In a separate attack in Musakhel district, local officials said at least 23 civilians were killed after attackers reportedly stopped their convoy, checked their IDs and determined they were from Punjab.

Union minister Kurian of BJP elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha from MP
Union minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee George Kurian was on Tuesday declared elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha in a bypoll from Madhya Pradesh by the returning officer. Several former members of banned Jamaat-e-Islami file nomination papers for Assembly polls
Several former members of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday filed nomination papers to contest the Assembly polls in the Union Territory as independent candidates. Sugra Barkati, daughter of jailed separatist worker Sarjan Barkati, also filed nomination papers on behalf of her father.
While Jamaat cannot take part in the elections due to the ban imposed on it by the Union home ministry, it had shown interest in participating in the polls during the Lok Sabha elections if the ban were removed.

BRS Working President K T Rama Rao on Tuesday thanked the Supreme Court for granting bail to his sister and party MLC K Kavitha in the corruption and money laundering cases linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam and said justice has prevailed in the cases.
