Stock market update: Sugar stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading higher on Thursday at 11:05AM

Ugar Sugar Works Ltd.(up 4.59%), Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(up 4.04%), KM Sugar Mills Ltd.(up 2.17%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(up 1.97%), Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(up 1.22%), Sakthi Sugars Ltd.(up 1.19%), Mawana Sugars Ltd.(up 1.08%), Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd.(up 1.02%), Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd.(up 0.98%) and Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd.(up 0.96%) were among the top gainers.

Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd.(down 0.18%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 46.85 points up at 24817.05, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 151.44 points at 81056.74 at around 11:05AM.

Grasim Industries Ltd.(up 2.46%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 1.98%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 1.68%), Asian Paints Ltd.(up 1.24%), Titan Company Ltd.(up 0.98%), LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 0.94%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 0.76%), Infosys Ltd.(up 0.71%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 0.62%) and Tata Steel Ltd.(up 0.61%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.8%), NTPC Ltd.(down 0.96%), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 0.95%), Cipla Ltd.(down 0.92%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 0.84%), Coal India Ltd.(down 0.61%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 0.55%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.54%), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.53%) and Hindalco Industries Ltd.(down 0.51%) were trading in the red.
