Sybo, the creator of Subway Surfers, today announced a new limited time event for the popular mobile title: Veggie Hunt. Created to support Playing for the Planet Alliance’s Green Game Jam 2024, Veggie Hunt encourages players to eat more vegetable-based meals and, by extension, improve the planet. The event launches on August 26.

Veggie Hunt switches up Subway Surfers’ traditional gameplay by having players collect sandwich ingredients such as tomatoes, lettuce and avocadoes while they’re running. Once they complete their meat-free sandwich, they unlock new character Billy Bean. The game will also offer facts to players on how their food impacts the environment. Sybo also encourages players to share their real meat-free meals on social media, with the promise of unlocking more in-game rewards for everyone if they do.

Mathias Gredal Nørvig, Sybo CEO, said in a statement, “Inspiring Subway Surfers’ global player base to live a more sustainable lifestyle is one of our top priorities here at SYBO. Through the Veggie Hunt, we’re aiming to raise awareness for the significant positive impact we’re able to have on the environment even by switching to just one plant-based meal per week. By making small changes like this to our daily lives, together we can make significant strides toward a greener planet.”

In addition to the in-game vegetables and environmental facts, Subway Surfers is also adding food-themed boards to fit with the event’s message. Veggie Hunt also happens in-game concurrently with the Subway Surfers World Tour event, which puts runners in different locations around the world. From the start of Veggie Hunt through September 15.
