Stock Markets LIVE on Friday, August 16: Benchmarks Nifty50 and Sensex continued to trade higher amid the global market rally on hopes of a rate cut in the US.
The BSE Sensex surged over 1,000 points to 80,100 levels while Nifty50 was up more than 250 points at 24,400 levels.

TCS, M&M, Tata Motors were the top gainers while Maruti, NTPC, Titan were the top laggards on BSE.
Similarly, on NSE, Wipro, LTIM, Shriram Finance were the gainers while HDFC Life, SBI Life, Titan were the top laggards.
Broader indices too were buzzing in trade. the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices were up over 1 per cent each.
Sectorally, Nifty IT was the top gainer, up 1.64 per cent, closely followed by Realty (up 1.58 per cent).
