Foster: Quit being stuck in the past, Aspen

Since when is a straight shot “unacceptable?”

Sam Rose said the old, out-of-date bridge and curve are “value signaling” — whose values is he talking about? It’s the same old City Council, stuck in the past. Not only do we need to think about today, but we need to think about the future.

No matter how much you deny, Aspen is not going to stay the same. People are moving here everyday, and we need to change. Reworking the old Castle Creek Bridge is the worst idea the City Council has come up with in a long time.

“Aspen values” is we need to take our heads out of the sand and work for the future. In 50 years when it takes three hours in the morning and afternoon to get in and out of town, we will be questioning why we passed up a “straight shot.”

Not to mention an evacuation route. Didn’t we all see the pictures of the burned-out cars in Lanai?
