Bhopal, August 14 (Udaipur Kiran) – Monsoon activities have resumed in Madhya Pradesh. This situation is due to the cyclonic circulation and active monsoon trough. In the next 24 hours, there will be heavy rain in some places and light rain in others. A heavy rain alert has been issued for seven districts, including Guna and Sagar. However, the current weather system is expected to weaken from August 15.
According to the Meteorological Department, a cyclonic circulation is active over northeastern Rajasthan, and the monsoon trough is passing through this area. Another trough and two more cyclonic circulations are also active. The system is expected to weaken by tomorrow. Until the next system becomes active, light rain and thunderstorms are likely in the state. The state has already received 73% more rainfall than the seasonal average. So far, there should have been 23.5 inches of rain, but 27.2 inches of rain has already fallen.
On Tuesday, there was light rainfall across the state, with half an inch of rain recorded in Shivpuri. Light rain was also observed in Bhopal, Khajuraho in Chhatarpur district, Satna, Betul, Dhar, Gwalior, and Narmadapuram. Among the divisions, Jabalpur, Bhopal, and Narmadapuram have received the most rainfall. Mandla in the Jabalpur division has recorded over 41 inches of rain. The top 10 districts with the highest rainfall include Seoni, Narmadapuram, Raisen, Sheopur, Chhindwara, Dindori, Sagar, Rajgarh, and Balaghat. Bhopal has received over 33 inches of rain, which is about 90% of the normal rainfall for the season. An additional 4 inches of rain is needed to reach the seasonal average.
It’s worth noting that the halt in rainfall had reduced the inflow of water into the state’s dams. However, since Tuesday, the water levels have started rising again. So far, 80% of the state’s dams have filled up, leading to the opening of their gates. This includes dams like Kolar, Bansagar, Kundalia, Bargi, Indira Sagar, Omkareshwar, Kaliasot, Bhadbhada, and Kerwa.
