Heavy Rain Alert for 22 Districts in Madhya Pradesh Including Gwalior and Jabalpur

Bhopal, August 10 (Udaipur Kiran) – Monsoon activity has resumed in Madhya Pradesh. On Friday, rain ranged from light to heavy in 18 districts including Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur. The most rainfall was recorded in Sidhi with 41 mm, almost 2 inches. Damoh and Balaghat saw about half an inch of rain in Malajkhand.

Due to cyclonic circulation and the monsoon trough line, there is a heavy rain alert for 22 districts today, Saturday. However, from August 11, rainfall activity is expected to decrease, with only light showers and thunder expected in some areas.

The 22 districts expected to experience heavy rain today are Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Sheopur, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Sagar, Damoh, Narsinghpur, Seoni, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat, Anuppur, Mauganj, and Satna. According to the weather department, there are currently three cyclonic circulations and one monsoon trough line active. The monsoon trough is passing through several districts in MP, which may lead to rain in the northern and eastern parts today. Other areas might see thunderstorms and light rain.

On Friday, rain of about half an inch was reported in Dhar, Khandwa, and Rewa. Light rain was also recorded in Bhopal, Betul, Indore, Guna, Jabalpur, Khajuraho, Mandla, Ratlam, Sagar, Satna, Seoni, and Umaria. This season, rainfall has been 69% above normal. The expected rainfall is 22 inches, but 25.7 inches have already fallen. Strong weather systems have been active in August’s first week as well.
