Sonal Kabi has joined Amazon Prime Video as Chief Marketing Officer, marking her return to the company (Amazon). Kabi announced her new role on LinkedIn.
In her LinkedIn post, Kabi said, “I recently joined Amazon again. A lot of folks have asked me what it’s like, and I’m no expert—but in my assessment, Netflix is like the Olympics of the streaming world, and Amazon is akin to the World Cup. It depends on what stage of your career you are at and what skills you want to build. At both places, it was the people I worked with who mattered the most and made all the difference.
“The last five weeks at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios have been remarkable, especially witnessing the love for Mirzapur. I’m excited for the future, where we aim to create countless inspiring and captivating stories for India and the global audience.
“In my new role as the Chief Marketing Officer at Amazon Prime Video India, my vision is to blend the strengths of both organizations and foster innovative thinking—it’s always Day 1,” she added.
Kabi, who previously served as Director of Marketing at Netflix, reflected on her tenure there with gratitude. She remarked, “My year at Netflix was nothing short of incredible, leading campaigns for The Railway Men, Chamkila, Heeramandi, and The Great Indian Kapil Show, among others. I was fortunate to have met strong leaders with very large hearts and stellar business acumen. Monika Shergill and Srivats TS—this journey was a joyride, and thank you for being amazing. Saying goodbye to my very talented team was tough; I still miss them dearly.”
Kabi’s previous stint at Amazon was extensive, spanning nearly six years. During this time, she held various roles, starting as Lead – India Originals at Amazon Prime, before being promoted to Head of Title Marketing at Amazon Prime Video, and later to Head of Marketing at Amazon miniTV.
Her diverse career also includes positions at Shuttl as Head of Brand and Marketing, McDonald’s as Assistant General Manager of Marketing, Star TV Network as Senior Manager of Marketing, Leo Burnett as Account Director for APAC, and Lowe and Partners Worldwide as Brand Services Director.
