Theekshana. SIX! Rohit slog sweeps the ball behind square leg. Superb hit. Four more! Rohit this time slaps the ball past cover. 

Asitha. Outswinger and Gill is beaten. He looked to cut the ball but almost edged it. Lucky! Gill gets a leading edge but falls safely in the gap of extra cover and point. Rohit tries to make room and hits the ball straight. Doesn’t get enough power and only gets a single. 

Maheesh Theekshana into the attack. Drifts the ball into the right hander. Excellent start for Theekshana. Bringing the ball into the batters. Short ball and Rohit punches the ball towards cover and gets a boundary! 

Asitha Fernando. Rohit Sharma begins the chase with a four! On the legs and he clips the ball towards midwicket for four. Five runs from the first over. 

Siraj to bowl the final over. Two singles in two balls. SIX! Kamindu smacks the ball over long on. Mendis now hits the ball straight and runs a double. Sri Lanka take out 13 runs from the over. Terrific end. 

Kuldeep. FOUR! Kusal lofts the ball over cover. Gets a double as he cuts the ball past point. Tries to go for a slog sweep, misses the ball and Indians appeal for LBW. Umpire gives! Mendis reviews. Pitching outside leg. Not out. OUT! Kusal is caught at long on! Great catch that. The fielder took the catch, threw the ball in the air as he went outside the boundary. He later grabs the ball. Third umpire checks. Not much angles for third umpire to look into so the minimal evidence suggests the catch is clean. India gets a wicket. 

Another wicket. Maheesh Theekshana too falls as he goes for a wild slog. Misses the ball and Pant stumps him. Third umpire is checking and Theekshana is stopped midway! The new batter had walked in already. It’s a close call. Not Out! Theekshana’s bat was grounded before it went in the air. 

Parag for his ninth. Kusal tries to play an inside out, gets beaten and Pant dislodges the bails. Stumping appeal by India. He’s inside the crease. Not out. Kusal moves across and slog sweeps the ball behind square leg for four! Smart shot. Another! Bit short and but Kusal picks the same spot to slog the ball. 

Kuldeep is back. Kamindu almost chips the ball straight to Kuldeep. The pitch has started to assist the spinners. Sri Lankan spinners will be licking their lips. But first, the batters need to get to at least 240 here. 

Parag again. Mendis lofts the ball towards extra cover and the batters run a double. Lofts again, wide of long off. Dube isn’t able to reach to catch it as the batters run two more runs. 

Axar for his last over. Four singles came in that over. He finishes with 1/41 in his 10 overs

Parag continues. OUT! What a ball by Parag and Wellalage is squared. The ball crashes into the off stump. Parag is pumped!

Kamindu Mendis at the crease. Mendis sweeps and Sri Lanka gets three runs due to an overthrow! 

Sundar is back. OUT! Liyanage chops onto the stumps. Trying to work the ball towards leg stump. Quicker delivery outside off. Sundar gets a wicket. 

Dunith Wellalage at the crease. He has been crucial for Sri Lanka this series. 

Terrific over by Parag. Mixing the off spinners and leg spinners really well while attacking the stumps. Just a single came in that over. 

Siraj again. He’s getting the ball to reverse and dip. Not easy for the new batters to face straight up. Too wide outside off and Liyanage drives past cover for four! Good shot. Yorker, Liyanage defends back to Siraj, who throws the ball towards the batter’s stumps. Things are hot in the middle!

Parag continues. Four singles came in that over. 

Sadeera Samarawickrama at the crease. Siraj is also back into the attack. Siraj and Mendis have a heated exchange in the middle. Mendis defended a nip backer and Siraj had a go at him. Hint of reverse into the right hander and Indians pleading for LBW. Umpire doesn’t give it though. India reviews. Three reds! OUT! Samarawickrama departs for a duck. A lot of words being said in the last five overs and each wicket has seen at least one of the Indian players giving a send off. 

Asalanka gets into the act as he slog sweeps Parag for a SIX! Terrific hit. A bit of turn and Asalanka almost chips the ball to catching cover. OUT! This time Asalanka is given out LBW. He has reviewed it though. Three reds and Asalanka has to go. Brilliant spell by Parag this. 

Riyan is back. Short ball and Avishka pulls the ball towards midwicket for four! OUT! Avishka is given LBW. Leg spinner by Riyan, Avishka plants his frontfoot, gets beaten and is hit on the pads straight. Umpire gives it out and Avishka walks. 96! Missed his century by four runs. Terrific innings though. First wicket for Parag and at what time!

Charith Asalanka is here. Is beaten off the first ball by an off spinner, turning away from the left hander. 

Kuldeep. FOUR! Mendis charges down the track and lofts the ball over mid off. Six runs in that over. 

TURN! Axar finds a sharp turn that squares up Mendis. This is what Indian bowlers were looking for. But more than that, Sri Lankan spinners will be happy to see that! Three in that over. 

Kuldeep from the other end. Fernando has entered the 90s. Has built his innings brilliantly, getting the boundaries at regular intervals and while finding singles and doubles regularly. 

Axar is back and bowls a maiden. Again, quicker through the air and not giving much time to the batters. Slight grip in the wicket to make use of. The partnership is now 64. 

Not a lot going India’s and Siraj’s way and Avishka is finding boundaries at regular intervals. 

Siraj is back and is welcomed back with a four. A thick outside edge that goes past a diving Rishabh Pant. SIX! Short ball and Avishka pulls it towards square leg where the fielder in the deep was interested for a while. However, the ball went over the fielder and clears the rope. And another SIX. Same shot towards same region. 19 came in that over. 

Sri Lankans have used the sweep to good effect. Riyan Parag has bowled two overs thus far - two off spinners bowling for India at the moment with Sundar from the other end. Stump to stump attack has kept the scoring rate in check. 

Sundar is back into the attack. Bowling quicker through the air. Sri Lankan batters though aren’t looking in any discomfort. Most runs have square off the wicket due to the slowness of the pitch. 

Spinners have made sure to keep attacking the stumps. Avishka gets a half-volley outside off and he slices the ball towards deep backward point for four! Also gets to his fifty. Pretty good innings by the Sri Lankan opener. 

It seems the pitches in this series have gotten a bit better in each game. Batters have been able to time the ball much better than the previous two games. Though a few of the deliveries are gripping off the pitch, it is still a decent day to bat - so far. 

Axar is back into the attack. His first spell wasn’t that great, conceding two sixes. However, on the very first ball off his second spell, he squares up Avishka. Ball just goes past outside edge. OUT! Nissanka is gone. He attempts to slog sweep again but gets a top edge instead. Pant takes the catch. India gets a breakthrough.

Sundar. Both Avishka and Nissanka are looking in complete control so far. So far, the conditions have been good. Avishka hits a pull towards square leg to add another boundary. 

Sundar. Smart shot by Avishka. Turning into the right hander and he clips it past fine leg, despite fielder’s desperate dive, and it goes for four. Seven from that over. 

Kuldeep Yadav into the attack. A stumping appeal against Nissanka. Beaten off the outside edge and Pant was quick to dislodge the bails. However, Nissanka is safe. Good over to start for Kuldeep, three came in it. 

Axar. Four! Slog sweep. A little flat but enough power. SIX! One more slog sweep. Higher elevation but same region. 13 runs came in that over. 

Washington Sundar into the attack. Right on the money. There hasn’t been much turn so the spinners are bowling a touch quicker to keep down the scoring rate. Maiden. 

Axar again. SIX! What a beautiful slog sweep. Right from the middle of the bat of Nissanka. Fifty-up for Sri Lanka. 10 runs came in that over. 

Siraj is back replacing Dube. Length ball and Avishka pulls it away towards midwicket and gets a double. FOUR! Down the leg and Avishka this time guides it towards fine leg boundary. Seven runs off the over. 

Axar. Bowling slower through the air and keeping it within the stumps. Sri Lankan openers are happy to defend. Just one run from the over. 

Dube continues. FOUR! Avishka punches the ball through the covers. Terrific shot again. Sri Lanka adds five more runs in this over. 

Axar Patel is into the attack replacing Siraj. Keeps the attack into the stumps. Not much turn as of yet. Just a single came in the over. 

Dube again. Avishka gets a thick outside edge that goes past the point only for a single. Another terrific over by Dube. Just a single from that over. 

Siraj again. Much better over so far. In and around the off stump, asking the batters to play on the up. JINXED! Length ball and this time Avishka punches the ball through the cover for four! Brilliant shot. Six runs off the over. 

Dube. He has started pretty well this afternoon. Has kept it very simple, keeping the line and length straight. Just two more runs from the over. 

Siraj. FOUR! Length ball wide outside off and Nissanka cuts past point for four. Nissanka is on fire here. Another boundary! On the pads and flicked away towards square leg. Eight runs from the over. 

Shivam Dube from the other end. India is only playing two seamers today: the second being Dube. Starts off well, attacking the stumps and getting a bit of movement. Just two runs from the over. 

Mohammed Siraj with the new ball. Pathum Nissanka on strike. FOUR! Nissanka begins the proceedings with a four off the first ball. On the legs and he simply chips the ball over midwicket and it races to the boundary. Another four off the fourth ball! On the hips and Nissanka just guides it away towards fine leg.

IND vs SL: Riyan Parag makes his ODI debut for India

All-rounder Riyan Parag is making his one-day international (ODI) debut for India against Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium on Wednesday.

Sri Lanka has won the toss, again, and will bat first. Theekshana comes in for Akila. 

Two changes for India: Rishab Pant and Riyan Parag in playing XI in place of KL Rahul and Arshdeep. 

India all-rounder Washington Sundar revealed that the batters are working on their weakness against spin with head coach Gautam Gambhir and trying to adapt ahead of the final one-day international against Sri Lanka. 

“Obviously, there have been a lot of inputs from him, and he was a high-quality player of spin,” said Washington. “That’s one of the reasons we came here today to practise, to try to find a way and make small changes tactically.”

SL vs IND: Indian batters trying to find way, make tactical changes against spin, says Sundar ahead of 3rd ODI

India all-rounder Washington Sundar revealed that the batters are working on their weakness against spin with head coach Gautam Gambhir and trying to adapt ahead of the final one-day international against Sri Lanka.

Not many would have given Sri Lanka a chance against a near full-strength Indian side before the start of the one-day series. The home team came into the 50-over format following a 3-0 whitewash in the T20Is and was missing four front-line pace bowlers due to injuries and illness. 

After somehow managing to tie the first game, the host lost key all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga ahead of the second game. However, despite the odds, Sri Lanka has secured a 1-0 lead with a 32-run victory on Sunday powered by leggie Jeffrey Vandersay’s brilliant six-wicket haul (six for 33).

The Lankans now have a chance to end a 27-year drought for a bilateral series win against the Men in Blue in ODIs when the two outfits meet in the third and final contest at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
